We are a non-government organization and a not-for-profit private school.  Yes, we are  obligated to follow the general rules of school programs and criteria set by the Government of Madagascar.
The Malagasy government also encourages the opening of private schools because there are not enough public schools to meet the needs of the population.

We met & exceeded those educational standards, rules & regulations set by the Government of Madagascar including a health certificate from the Health Department
August 1, 2014 we received our license to operate a school.
Baobab School opened  Oct 6, 2014, the official first day of school.

from the bush community.
I am Alex Zaves and with  Adeline Miarana,  we founded the Baobab School  I'm a professional artist & sculptor for more than 30 years .Before  Adeline had been a teacher for several years. This is when we talked about starting our own school. With our extra savings,  we found some inexpensive land of two acres out in the bush community. We checked with the different government offices to find out that the land we were looking at was in deed free and clear and could buy it from the owner. So we did, and cleared the waist high grass, then marked out where we would put the first building to go up. We put in mango trees, bananas and other tropical plants.  I enjoy living, working and lifestyle of the tropics.  Baobab School is an officially run school , however this is a feel-good project for us. Our success has been solid, giving us the ability to  expand with new projects which you can view on the Progress Page.
